Accused rapist remanded to prison
In news from the courts, another Belize City man has been remanded to Hattieville Prison, accused of raping one of his co-workers. According to the victim, she got off her shift at Old Belize around nine on Sunday night and headed to the Western Highway to wait for a bus. A few minutes later, a red car being driven by another employee, thirty-eight year old Levi Jackson, pulled up and offered her a lift. The woman decided to accept but says instead of taking her home, Jackson drove to a feeder road off the Boom Hattieville road where he tried to rape her. She says she put up a fight but her resistance was met with punches, bites and eventually a machete which Jackson threatened to use on her if he couldn’t have sex wit her. This morning Jackson appeared before Magistrate Aretha Ford where he was charged with rape, wounding and aggravated assault in connection to the incident. The case has been adjourned until the twenty-seventh of September.
