City residents watching and waiting

The question is: what will we do as the hurricane gets closer? News Five’s Kendra Griffith took to the streets to find out.
Resident #1
“I just find out about the hurricane yesterday. I noh really watch news lot, but I plan fi start before Tuesday because when I watch it they say by Tuesday it might hit.”
Kendra Griffith
“You have a plan that you will put in place though?”
Resident #1
“Well noh really, do the same, just bake up wah couple Johnny cake, whatever, buy your foodstuffs and get your flashlight and everything prepared.”
Kendra Griffith
“Have you been preparing any at all for the hurricane?”
Resident #2
“No, I’m not preparing yet.”
Kendra Griffith
“When do you think you’re gonna start?”
Resident #2
“Probably this evening.”
Kendra Griffith
“So you think that it’s gonna come?”
Resident #2
“Well, so far. It di fight fi come to Belize.”
Resident #3
“I was going to buy school thing, but I decide to save the money to see if we need fi buy anything for the hurricane. I have mi flashlight ready and I try getting mi batteries and soh like that.”

“Do you have a hurricane plan?”
Resident #4
“Well I will have to.”
Kendra Griffith
“You noh di mek no preparations for the hurricane that’s out right now?”
Resident #4
“Well noh yet.”
Resident #5
“I noh really feel like it wah come dah Belize because it always come and it never plan fi destroy Belize anyway.”

“Do you have a plan though if it threatens Belize?”
Resident #5
“Only fi goh dah the hurricane shelter with mi pickney them.”

“You have your groceries or anything though?”
Resident #5
“Noh as yet, until I see the flags they go up, then.”
