Family Court cop honoured as hero
The staff of the Family Court has honoured a police officer for heroism in the face of danger. On July first, Police Constable Edgar Poot was on duty at court when Daniel Gilharry who had just lost a child support case, pulled out a knife and began to wave it in the direction of Magistrate Natalia Carter. Poot, who was unarmed, immediately subdued and disarmed Gilharry. On Wednesday Family Court Director Margaret Nicholas presented Poot with a plaque and a big thank you for his efforts.
