Body of missing boatman found in Macal River
Around eight forty-five this morning, the partly decomposed body of twenty six year old Jermaine Orosco was pulled from the upper Macal River. The corpse was found three hundred yards away from where a search team had discovered Orosco’s boat On Monday with its engine still running.
The discovery was made four days after Orosco, a boat captain, disappeared on his way to pick up co-workers downstream from the Chalillo Dam. Orosco worked for David Penner, a contractor hired by BECOL to clean the impoundment area of the Chalillo Reservoir. Police say they do not suspect foul play and it is believed that Orosco may have fallen overboard and drowned. Authorities are awaiting the results of a post mortem to confirm their suspicion.
