In news about another type of energy, the government has announced a three dollar increase in the price of butane. The new retail rate for a hundred pound cylinder is one hundred and five dollars in Belize City, Belmopan one hundred and seven, while in San Ignacio it’s one hundred and ten bucks. Customers in Benque will pay one hundred and eleven dollars; in Orange Walk the price is one hundred and six; Corozal one hundred and five. In the south, butane will sell for a hundred and seven dollars in Dangriga and one hundred and eight dollars in Punta Gorda. This spike comes on the heels of another increase which occurred on June thirteenth when butane went up by four dollars. The new prices took effect on Thursday.
