Darien Banks charged with Wounding of common-law wife

Story PictureAnd the infamous Darien Banks was on familiar territory when he was taken to court this morning. This time around, the thirty-one year old was facing charges of Wounding against his common-law-wife, Nicolette Foreman. Banks was granted bail of eight hundred dollars despite objections from the prosecution because the victim and her two children would be at risk. But in an unprecedented move, Banks’ mother, Elida Bonnell Williams, requested that her son be remanded because he is mentally unstable and she feared for his safety. Magistrate Aretha Ford granted Williams’ request and ordered that Banks undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Foreman told police that the incident in question occurred around three-twenty last Friday afternoon at her Oleander Street home. She said she was stabbed once to the back of the head after Banks displayed strange behaviour. He also allegedly beat his twelve year old son, a report that a doctor and Banks’ mother support. Police however, have not charged Banks in connection with that incident. Banks had also gone to police to report that his wife, Desiree Banks, had gone missing. But it was while he was filing the report that he discovered that she had left him and had taken their seven year old daughter with her, leaving behind a one year old in his care. Though his name has been known for years as D-A-R-R-E-N, he has clarified the spelling as D-A-R-I-E-N.
