Man arrested for Stann Creek chopping

Twenty-nine year old Honduran Wilmer Humberto Aguilar knows his attacker, but he told police he has no idea why thirty-six year old Honduran Pasqual Turcios chopped him in the head with a machete.

Aguilar told Independence police that around ten-thirty on Saturday night he was drinking at a bar in Bella Vista Village when Turcios approached him and attacked him for no particular purpose. But investigations have since led police to believe the reason why Aguilar was injured is because of a misunderstanding that occurred between both the victim and the accused that same night. Police reports are that Aguilar and Turcios, who appears to have been intoxicated, were at the establishment when they started to argue and it was during the dispute that Turcios reportedly pulled out the machete and inflicted the head wound. Turcios was arrested and charged with the crime of wounding.
