P.M.: political tour positive but no early elections
Earlier in this newscast we interviewed the Prime Minister about the latest developments surrounding the D.F.C. Commission of Inquiry. His comments today about the report of Justice Lord and its impact on the work of the Commission were the first since he received the document on Monday, largely due to the fact that he was on tour in the southern part of the country for much of the week. According to the P.M., his visits to supporters have been positive.
Prime Minister Said Musa
“A lot has been done but of course a lot still remains to be done and the message that I’ve taken to them is that hope is alive with the People’s United Party and we are continuing the work.”
Janelle Chanona
“Now some people might be saying you’re on tour in the south, the Leader of the Opposition was on tour in the north. Maybe you all know something that the rest of don’t, especially about elections.”
Prime Minister Said Musa
“Well, elections are due as you know by March of next year and we are working on that timetable and that remains the position. But we do need to address as a matter of priority certain basic needs of our people and our government is continuing to do its work and I will not be distracted by calls made for my resignation. As I have said I will not resign. The people put me here to do a job and that’s what I’m doing.”
