Toledo teen critical following traffic accident
A Toledo teenager remains in critical condition tonight following a traffic accident on the Southern Highway on Thursday. According to police reports, around seven last night thirteen year old Juan Pop Junior was riding his bicycle while a friend walked beside him. But between miles twenty-seven and twenty-eight, the young cyclist was flung from the bike as he was knocked down by a motorcycle travelling in the same direction. The victim suffered severe head and body injuries and was rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit. The child is connected to a ventilator to help him breathe. Police have since detained the driver of the motorcycle, twenty year old Francisco Mas, pending charges. Investigators say Mas does not have a valid driver’s license and the motorcycle is not licensed or insured. If you would like to assist the Pop family, please contact them at the K.H.M.H.
