Darrel Francis murdered near home

The streets were quiet last week and very little violence was reported by the cops. But the silence was shattered on Friday night when one man was killed in Belize City. Twenty-one year old Darrel Francis, an unemployed man of Rivero Street, was standing in front of a shop at the junction between Neal’s Pen and Kraal Roads when a lone gunman took his life. Police Press Officer Clement Palacio gave News Five the details.

“Police visited the K.H.M.H. trauma room where they saw the lifeless body of Darrel Francis and they observed that he had been shot to the temple. Initial investigation revealed that he was approached by a gunman who opened fire on him causing the injury which ultimately led to his death.”

“The area where he was shot, that’s two shootings in one night. Is the police concerned about violence around the Kraal Road and Caesar Ridge Road Areas?”

“Yes, they are concerned and of course the police department has been taking action through its subsidiary branches that deals with gang prevention and matters of that, you know, concern.”

“Are there any leads with this particular case?”

“Currently there are no leads and of course the police are asking the members of the general public to assist with information that would lead to the apprehension of the person responsible.”

Francis’ family members said he was in the company of friends and they are yet to receive the facts as to what actually led to the shooting.
