P.U.P. City Council announces Manifesto
At Independence Hall this afternoon, the People’s United Party launched its City Council manifesto for the March seventh elections. It’s a blueprint of forty six solutions that the P.U.P. is putting forward to advance the quality of life in the City. The team of eleven, headed by mayoral candidate Karen Bodden, says it wants solutions to the perennial problems of garbage, drainage, streets and other municipal issues that have dogged City Hall in the past three years. The symbolic presentation of an autographed copy of the P.U.P. manifesto to party leader Francis Fonseca this afternoon succeeds the formal declaration of candidacy of a team of eleven, led by mayoral hopeful Karen Bodden, last Wednesday.

“Party leader over the past six years all of us have witnessed the deterioration of our city. We have witnessed the hopelessness in the eyes of our people. On behalf of my team I hereby pledge to you and to the residents of Belize City that we will work hard to change things around; that our goal party leader is to improve the quality of life for our people in Belize City. This pledge is coming from every member of this team and it is a pledge coming from our hearts to your home that we promise you that you can hold us accountable on anyone of the forty-six solutions outlined in this manifesto.”
The platform of the aspiring council is one that proposes a meaningful response to what has been described by residents of the Old Capital as a city in turmoil. For the People’s United Party it’s a return to form that will see City Hall addressing the fundamental needs of the people.

To gain the favor of the masses the P.U.P. Eleven, through party leader Francis Fonseca, pitched the idea of a strong frontrunner; a mayor dedicated to purposeful leadership.

“This P.U.P. city council team will effectively and efficiently maintain and improve our city’s streets and drains, pick up and dispose of your garbage and enhance the charm and beauty of the Old Capital. We also offer to the residents of Belize City a strong and dynamic team leader, a dynamic mayor, a competent and recognized and humble person who will serve as the mayor of Belize City. A mayor who will put the needs of city residents above partisan politics, a mayor who will serve all residents and who will not only uplift our city but uplift city residents through her dedication, her hard work and her compassion.”
