Cop killer sentenced to life behind bars
A convicted cop killer will spend the rest of his life behind bars. That was the sentence handed down to twenty-six year old Chadrick Debride this afternoon by Justice Troadio Gonzalez. Earlier this month, Debride was convicted in connection with the shooting death of Police Constable Nedi Reymundo. On Christmas Eve in 2004, Reymundo had just walked out of a barber shop at the corner of West Canal and Bishop Street when Debride walked up to him and shot him in the head at close range. Motive for the killing was not clear and may have been a case of mistaken identity. The prosecution did not request the death penalty and the life sentence was the minimum the judge could have ordered.
