Driver pleads guilty in fatal accident

In court news, a Belize City man has pled guilty to Causing Death by Careless Conduct for an accident that occurred in April of 2006. Around nine the night of the twenty-second, Justo Reyes and five friends left the Triangle Bar on East Collet Canal and were heading to another establishment on Barrack Road. Reyes, who was driving, had one friend in the passenger seat while the other three sat in the pan of his Chevy pickup. But when Reyes turned off North Front Street onto Queen Street, one of his passengers, thirty-nine year old Carlos Alamilla, who was seated on the edge of the truck, was thrown off. Alamilla sustained serious injuries to his head and was pronounced dead on arrival at the K.H.M.H. Reyes will be sentenced by Justice Adolph Lucas on Friday.
