Special constable arrests chain snatcher

Whether they are in or out of uniform, the police are always on the job or at least that was case for special police constable Kirk Flowers, who over the weekend caught a chain snatcher by surprise. It all went down around eleven forty-five on Sunday morning. Flowers, who, was off duty and out of uniform, was walking near the corner of Vernon and Johnson streets in Belize City when he was approached by a young man. The seventeen year old quickly grabbed Flower’s gold chain from around his neck, but the thief was not that quick in his attempt to get away. Flowers overpowered the culprit and held onto him until a police mobile patrol arrived in the area. The gold chain and medal were recovered and the minor, a resident of St. Jude Street, was detained pending charges.
