Car dealer charged for taking customer’s cash

Every day Belizeans engage with used car dealers to purchase vehicles. Usually, the transaction ends happily … but not always. One that didn’t work out has resulted in a dealer being arrested. Twenty-nine year old Jude Coye of Johnson Street appeared today in Magistrates’ Court charged with Obtaining Property by Deception. It is alleged that between March second and April tenth Coye was given over thirty thousand dollars to purchase three vehicles for a woman client. Three months later he has produced neither the rides nor the cash. Coye was granted bail of five thousand dollars with his next court date set for August twentieth.
