Bus conducter sentenced to 12 years for sex crime
A man convicted of carnal knowledge with a thirteen year old girl has been sentenced to twelve years in prison. Antonio Paau, a thirty-two year old bus conductor, was found guilty earlier this month in the Supreme Court. The crime in question was committed in August of 2005 after he had made friends with the child who later ran away from home and asked Paau to find her a place to stay. The following day the girl returned home and, after telling her mother what happened, reported the incident to police. Three people spoke on Paau’s behalf before Justice Adolph Lucas handed down the sentence, which will run from June fifth, the day of the guilty verdict.
