Body of missing man found in Corozal Bay
Corozal police suspect foul play in the discovery of the body of a young man who was reported missing. The family of twenty-one year old Wilbert Castaneda says the last time they saw him was around eight on Saturday night. Cesar Castaneda told police that when he saw his brother walking on Park Street, Wilbert told him that he was going home but that he never arrived. That is when the family became concerned and reported him missing to the police.
This morning around six authorities responded to a call that a body was seen floating in the waters off the town. When the body was retrieved it was positively identified as Wilbert Castaneda. Police also observed stab wounds to the abdomen, chest, and left arm that make them believe the young man was murdered. This evening a post-mortem confirmed that conclusion, finding that Castaneda died of trauma from those wounds.
