Detainee dies behind bars, police investigate
An official investigation has been launched by police following the death of an prisoner in the Orange Walk jail. According to authorities, around one on Sunday morning, officers on duty discovered the lifeless body of thirty year old Nelson Castellanos in one of the station’s cells. The cops immediately noticed that the left side of the victim’s face was swollen. Subsequent investigations have revealed that the other detainees in the cell at the time beat Castellanos because he threw faeces on them. The deceased has been transferred to the morgue where his body awaits a post-mortem.
