Tribunal should begin deliberations soon
In related news from the telecommunications industry, News Five has confirmed that the tribunal panel commissioned to investigate the firing of three B.T.L. employees is scheduled to begin its hearings as early as next Monday. We are told that after much legal wrangling, all injunctions against the sessions have been lifted, freeing the members to get down to work. Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb, Gilbert Johnson, and Carlos Santos have been appointed by the Government, the union’s nominee is Winston Carr, and Mark Lizarraga is the B.T.L. appointee. Gabb will also chair the tribunal panel. The terminated employees: Nelson Young, Andy Sutherland, and Enrique Molina are arguing that their dismissal violated the collective bargaining agreement signed by the Belize Communication Workers Union and Belize Telecommunications Limited.
