Saturday’s Lotto has second winner

Story PictureWe didn’t get it quite right on last night’s newscast, but Saturday’s Lotto draw had not one but two winners … and today winner number two claimed his half of the fifty-seven thousand five hundred dollar jackpot. Fifty-nine year old Xaibe cane farmer Ines Roberts told us he found out on Monday that he was a winner, but it was not until today that he realised he had to share.

Ines Roberts, $57,500 Lotto Winner
“Long time I have been buying Lotto, the big ones. Miss them by two numbers, by one number.”

Kendra Griffith
“So you always felt that one day you would win it?”

Ines Roberts
“Yes, because I win two times the four numbers.”

“Monday when I gone to Corozal about ten-thirty I went to place where I buy the Lotto. First thing I see that they win the Lotto, from far. When I get closer I saw that the numbers were my numbers that I bought Saturday.”

Kendra Griffith
“What was your reaction?”

Ines Roberts
“Nothing, I just see it and I win, no kind of surprise.”

“We reach here this morning with somebody that we know and she told us that somebody win the Lotto too here in Belize, so well now I say we have to share the money. It’s not a problem, it’s still alright.”

Kendra Griffith
“What are your plans for the money?”

Ines Roberts
“The plans for my money is expanding my house.”

After taxes Roberts took home twenty-four thousand four hundred and thirty-seven dollars. The other winner, Lennox Flowers, received a similar amount.
