Suspect arrested in Bliss burglary

Story PictureBelize City police say they are still trying to find out how twenty-eight year old Lyjon Franklin may have broken into the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts, but that has not stopped them from charging him with the crimes of Aggravated Burglary and Handling Stolen property.

The break in the case came after authorities searched Franklin’s Plues Street residence and found a cellular phone that was positively identified as one of the stolen items. At the premises police also arrested twenty-six year old Julia Avila and charged her with Handling Stolen Property. There are still no leads on the two handguns, two shot guns, and money that were stolen from a safe that was in one of the three administrative offices that were ransacked, but police say more arrests are expected.

The building’s security guard was on duty in the lobby around four-thirty Monday morning when he was surprised by three armed masked men who proceeded to methodically loot the cultural centre’s offices.
