Three charged for witness intimidation
Three people have been arrested for attempting to intimidate a witness in a criminal trial. Based on a report by the witness that he was accosted on Saturday, prior to the trial police have arrested sixty-five year old Ramon Barahona, thirty-six year old Jesus Echeverria, and fifty-one year old Azucena Tesecum, all of Corozal Town. According to the complainant, the three stalked him and tried to convince him not to testify. They have been charged with the crime of Suppression of Evidence. In the end any efforts to influence the outcome were unsuccessful as on Tuesday Raul Barahona was convicted in connection with a 2004 kidnapping and robbery in the Corozal District.
