Well known sculptor charged with carnal knowledge

Tonight a popular sculptor is behind bars, accused of a sexual assault. This morning forty-nine year old Curl Gordon appeared before Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie where he was formally arraigned on one count of unlawful carnal knowledge. No plea was taken as the matter is an indictable offence. During the proceeding the prosecution objected to bail, referring to the matter as a serious offence. Gordon had no legal representation present, but in his own defence he asked the court to grant him bail because he has nine children and is their only breadwinner. In the end, McKenzie ordered Gordon remanded to Hattieville Prison until his next court date on the thirteenth of June. Gordon was arrested on Tuesday night following a report by a fourteen year old girl. The teenager has reported that on Saturday June second she and Gordon engaged in sexual intercourse in her home.
