Collision on Hummingbird kills passenger in back of pickup
Shortly after five this morning, a fatal traffic accident occurred on the Hummingbird Highway. According to police, a Toyota pickup, driven by Salvador Vasquez and a Mazda pickup driven by Julian Polanco were travelling in different directions when they collided. When metal hit metal, the impact had deadly consequences for a passenger sitting in the pan of one of the vehicles.
Crispin Jeffries, Assistant Commissioner of Police
“These vehicles collided. They were both loaded with vegetables, travelling in both directions—apparently it is a business day. As a result of that, Marcelino Pintero, who was riding in the back of the Toyota pickup, had head injuries and died. His body is at the Belmopan hospital awaiting a post-mortem. At this point, the families have been informed, no one has been arrested or detained at this time, the investigation is still ongoing.”

“Is it near a curve?”
Crispin Jeffries
“It’s near a bridge. The exact details of that I can’t—it is a little bit sketchy for me also, but it was at mile thirty-two on the road.”
