Body of missing man found at sea

The body of a man missing at sea for six days was discovered near Vista del Mar over the weekend. According to police reports, around five on Saturday evening, residents of the community informed authorities that what appeared to be a corpse had been spotted in the water. Investigators immediately visited the scene and later recovered the body. It has since been identified as that of thirty-four year old Ronny Batres, an employee of Bradley’s Boat Yard. On May twentieth, Batres and two friends left Belize City on a fishing trip but as they paddled their canoe home that evening, waves capsized the vessel. The other two men were rescued by a passing boat but Batres, who was last seen swimming towards an icebox, disappeared beneath the waves. A post mortem has confirmed that he drowned.
