12 year old boy injured in city shooting
While it was a day of peaceful protest in Belmopan, a shooting in the old capital landed a twelve year old in the hospital. Around nine-thirty this morning, St. Ignatius student Benjamin Hyde was walking toward his house at 165 West Canal when two masked gunmen opened fire in the neighbourhood. It is not known who the men were aiming for, but one of their bullets found its mark in the child’s leg. Hyde was taken to the K.H.M.H., where he remains tonight in stable condition. Although residents report hearing six to nine gunshots, no expended shells were recovered from the scene, which leads investigators to believe the weapon used was a revolver.
