Toddler found dead in Dangriga; cause still unknown

Around the same time that Raudalez was knocked down, another tragedy involving a young victim was unfolding in Dangriga at the residence of thirty-seven year old Antoinette Flowers. Police in that southern municipality report that Flowers was at home with her one year old daughter, Ann Marie Martinez, when the mother left the toddler in the kitchen to go and use the bathroom. Flowers told authorities that while she was away she heard a noise and when she returned to the kitchen she saw little Ann Marie lying motionless under the stove. It remains a mystery as to what could have caused the death and while police say they are investigating the case from all angles, at this time they do not suspect foul play. The infant’s mother has been detained pending the outcome of the investigation and post mortem.
