Veteran broadcaster dies following asthma attack
Tonight we regret to announce the death of veteran broadcaster Edward P. Yorke Jr. who passed away this afternoon in Belize City. According to Janice Yorke, her husband was at the Bernice Yorke Institute of Learning on Baymen Avenue when he had a severe asthma attack. Sometime around two p.m., Yorke reportedly was heading to his vehicle when he stumbled shortly after stepping off of the school stairs. Yorke was quickly helped to the car and rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, but died while being transported. According to the family, Yorke, who was at the school all morning, was carrying his asthma inhaler and appeared to have his condition under control. He began his career in broadcasting at Radio Belize and later worked at Wave Radio and FM 2000. Edward P. Yorke, dead at the age of fifty-eight.
