Arrests made in three burglaries

It was a bad day for burglars as police have made arrests in three separate cases. This morning, thirty-two year old Otis Carr appeared in the courtroom of Magistrate Sharon Fraser where he pled not guilty to Burglary. Carr is accused of breaking into a room at the Princess Hotel just before midnight on Sunday. According to Surinamese Soldier Blom Hank, he was sleeping in room 424 when he was awakened by a noise coming from the bathroom. Upon making checks, Hank saw a hand removing the glass louvers from the window and then watched the intruder come into the room. Realising that he was busted, Carr ran out the front door, with Hank close behind. Hotel security caught the intruder and handed him over to police.

Charges have also been filed against two men attempting to burgle a restaurant in Spanish Lookout. Nineteen year old Hugo Vera of Santa Elena and twenty-seven year old Edgar Seravia of Belmopan have been jointly charged with Attempted Burglary. On Saturday night two Special Police Constables responded to a reported burglary in progress at Midway Restaurant and saw a vehicle leaving the scene. The cops managed to detain two of the four men in the vehicle after a car chase.

Police have made another arrest in last week’s Belize City home invasion. On Monday they picked up twenty-four year old Trenton Smith of Sarstoon Street and charged him with Aggravated Burglary of Jude Nagendran. Smith is the fourth person to be arrested for robbing the businessman at gunpoint at his home on Blue Marlin Drive on May sixth. Last week police also charged Julian Ebanks, Nicholas Gordon, and Kenrick Reneau for the same crime.
