Special Constables catch crooks in Spanish Lookout
But while those robbers managed to escape, a group which tried to break into a Spanish Lookout restaurant were not so fortunate, thanks to some quick acting special constables. Around ten-thirty on Saturday night two Police Special Constables responded to reports that there was a burglary in progress at Midway Restaurant on Central Road. As the officers arrived on the scene they saw a Mitsubishi car driving away and set off in pursuit. They caught up with the vehicle near Buena Vista village and managed to arrest two of the four would-be burglars. The suspects were transported to the San Ignacio police station where they await charges. Police continue the search for the other two accomplices. The two special constables are part of a group of nine Mennonites who were recruited and trained several years ago to work with the police department.
