Officials call Red Cross Week a success

Today marked the closing of one week of activities held to observe the services of the Belize Red Cross. Over the past five days, volunteers from across the country participated in various events designed to promote the organisation and recruit more members. According to Director General Lily Bowman, their efforts were a success.

“I believe that if we tell one more person more about Red Cross we have met our objective, because it is really build awareness. And however you do it, if we talk to children, if we talk to an adult, recruit volunteers, which is all we have been doing.”

“This week, we focussed on World Red Cross Day. It is the one day that we set aside throughout the world to celebrate all the good work that volunteers, staff, and everybody else involved with the Red Cross do in humanitarian services that we offer for the vulnerable communities of the world.”
