Rivero receives fine for traffic fatality
A former traffic officer convicted of knocking down and killing a teenager has been fined for the offence. Convicted of causing the death of nineteen year old Dwayne Francis by careless conduct last week, this morning Glen Rivero appeared before Justice Adolph Lucas for sentencing. Before handing down his decision, Lucas listened to mitigation pleas from Rivero’s attorney, Dickie Bradley, who pointed out that this was his client’s first offence and that he had worked with the Government for the past eighteen years. Lucas then ordered Rivero to pay eight thousand dollars to the court by November of this year, and ten thousand dollars to the Francis family by November 2009. Rivero also had his driver’s license revoked for one year. On August nineteenth 2004, Rivero was driving an Isuzu Trooper when between miles four and five on the Northern Highway he knocked down Francis. The victim died the following day while receiving medical treatment.
