Three arrested for home invasion

Story PictureFour days after a Blue Marlin Drive home was burglarised and its owners robbed at gunpoint, Belize City police have arrested the three young men they strongly believe committed the crime. This morning, seventeen year old Julian Ebanks, twenty-six year old Nicholas Gordon, and twenty-eight year old Kenrick Reneau were all charged with Aggravated Burglary in Belize City Magistrates’ Court. All three pleaded not guilty and have since been remanded to Hattieville Prison until June eighth. Around four on Sunday morning, forty year old Jude Nagendran reported that he was awakened by strange noises. When he investigated he saw three men dressed in camouflage and armed with guns inside his home. Nagendran was ordered to lie on the ground. Around the same time, the second resident of the home, forty-four year old Richard Wilson, was at the front door but by the time he realised something was wrong, the burglars fired a shot in his direction. Wilson tried to get away but the gunman and his accomplices cornered him and forced him inside. As the victims lay on the ground, the thieves ransacked the home and escaped with a point thirty-eight revolver, a twenty-two calibre rifle, a laptop computer, a camera, two cell phones, and jewellery including a Rolex watch valued at ten thousand dollars. Tonight police say so far they have only managed to recover one of the weapons, the rifle, from an abandoned yard on Mopan Street.
