Former Collet area rep succumbs to cancer
Tonight we also regret to announce the death of former Belize City mayor, deputy speaker of the House, and Collet area representative Remijio Montejo, Sr. Montejo died just after ten on Thursday night at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He was fifty-six years old. Montejo fell gravely ill several months ago and was later diagnosed with a brain tumour. He subsequently received medical treatment in Belize, Cuba, and Merida to treat the condition. According to the family, Montejo will be laid to rest at the Lord Ridge Cemetery following a state funeral service at St. Ignatius Church. The body will lie in state from one on Saturday afternoon for church services at two. Montejo is survived by his wife Xian Wan Huang affectionately known as “JoJo”, his five year old son Remijio Jr., and two daughters: Locinda Veronica and Ann Rachel. Remijio Montejo Sr., dead at fifty-six.
