Cops shot at from car; two detained
Belize City police came under fire last night after officers asked the driver of a vehicle to stop. The brazen attack unfolded in the Port Loyola Area around ten on Wednesday night. According to authorities, their officers were on mobile patrol when upon reaching an area on Caesar Ridge Road they saw a white Isuzu Rodeo without license plates travelling in the direction of West Canal. The police motioned to the driver to stop, but instead of obeying, a hand extended from the passenger side of the vehicle and several shots were fired as the S.U.V. sped off. The cops pursued the fleeing vehicle and it was later found abandoned near Lindo’s Alley. The police have since detained two suspects but are waiting for the results of a forensic test to determine if any of the men in custody had recently discharged a firearm.
