Cyclist stable following Sandhill accident
A Sandhill man is recuperating at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital tonight following a traffic accident on the Northern Highway over the weekend. According to police around three Sunday afternoon, Darrell Hyde was riding his bicycle between miles thirteen and fourteen when he was knocked down from behind by a Mitsubishi Gallant. The driver, thirty one year old Andy Vacarro later told investigators that the cyclist was travelling in the same direction but suddenly swerved into the road and there was no way to avoid a collision. Hyde was rushed to the K.H.M.H. in critical condition suffering from severe head and body injuries. The police have served Vacarro with notice of intended prosecution.
