Drivers will find new anti-alcohol message on Western Highway
If you are planning on attending this weekend’s National Agriculture and Trade Show in Belmopan, there will be one new sign on the road that will not only catch your eye, but make you ease up on the gas pedal. In a brief handing over ceremony in the capital city today, founding members of Parents Against Drunk Driving, Tony and Antoinette Young, presented to Traffic Commissioner Michael Godoy, a banner promoting road safety. The sign displays the open casket of fifteen year old Alejandro Chan who was knocked down and killed in 2005 by a drunk driver as the teenager walked on the San Antonio Road in the Orange Walk District. It was as a result of Chan’s death that PADD was created by families and friends of accident victims.
