Sunny days, particularly camps signal the beginning of summer

Peter Lacey

For the last eight years, Peter Lacey has been working with students at his annual summer programme in Belize City but this year, he is also heading north to Orange Walk. Primary school students in the two districts will get the chance to do a combination of academics and sports. Lacey says the camp will kick off next month but to secure your space, registration starts on Thursday.

Peter Lacey, Summer Camp Director

“This year, I’m expanding that program up to Orange Walk; so I’m having a Belize City Summer Program and Sugar City Summer Program 2012. The Belize City Summer Program is at Holy Redeemer Parish Hall and the Sugar City Summer Program is at St. Peter’s Anglican School. The Belize City Program will run from July second to August third and the Sugar City summer program will run from July fourth to August third. Both programs are five week programs.”

“Alright. What are some of the things that the students will be covering during the summer program?”

Peter Lacey

“For the entire program,  students ranging from Infant one to standard six will be getting Reading, Phonics, Creative Writing, Math, P.S.E preparation and we will be doing some sports as well.”

Andrea Polanco

“So what’s the cost of the program this year?”

Peter Lacey

“For the entire program the cost is sixty dollars and the registration begins tomorrow, June twenty-eight at Holy Redeemer Parish Hall from eight a.m to five p.m and it continues on Friday, June twenty-ninth from eight p.m to fie p.m; we go straight through the lunch hour and on June thirtieth from eight a.m. to one p.m.”

Registration for the students in Orange Walk runs simultaneously with the city dates. If you’re interested and want more information, you can call Lacey at 664-9317.
