Arrests made in San Narciso murder, Placencia rape

Police have arrested and charged the man detained following a deadly bar fight in San Narciso Village on Sunday night. Twenty-nine year old Ricardo Pott has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Nolberto Martinez. Both men were at a local nightspot when they started to quarrel, but as the two scuffled, Martinez fell and hit his head. Onlookers later reported to police that as the injured man lay on the ground bleeding, Pott continued to beat him. When the two were finally parted, an unconscious Martinez was rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival. Pott appeared in Corozal Magistrates’ Court today before Magistrate Leslie Hamilton. He has been remanded to Hattieville Prison until May fifteenth.

Meanwhile, cops in the south have also arrested a man accused of rape. Twenty-one year old Jose Coy, a bank clerk from the village, was arrested and charged today following a report by a thirty-one year old woman that he entered her home and had sex with her against her will.
