2012 Carnival, Pickstock Style
Carnival is less than two months away and bands are already gearing up for this year’s fete. Pickstock Carnival Band Leader, Gareth Gill, says that this year they’re going all out and are kicking off their moves this weekend with the Miss Pickstock pageant. The show will feature six young girls, which Gills says promises to be an exciting prelude to 2012 Carnival, Pickstock style.

“Pickstock is having our fifth annual Miss Pickstock 2012. So for this pageant to be held, we are just doing a little bit of fundraising so that we can get our costume on the road; the reason for this because Pickstock has one hundred and forty-four strong members and right now we want two hundred; we want to settle with two hundred.”

“So I see six girls standing here; just tell us what can the audience expect on Saturday night?”
Gareth Gill
“Well, the audience can expect a lot of colors; beautiful costumes; lots of prizes; good talent like poems and dance and drama; the carnival costumes, that is the end and the introduction is where they introduce themselves, evening wear and in carnival costume is where they will crown who will be Miss Carnival 2012-2013.”
The pageant kicks off on Saturday night at seven at the Holy Redeemer Parish Hall. Tickets for children are four dollars and adults, six dollars.
