Story PictureSeven weeks after a sixteen year old girl was raped and her throat slashed, police have arrested and charged three persons with the crimes. Twenty-six year old Norman Oliva Peters aka “Ras Moz”, twenty-one year old Leonard Anthony Godoy aka “Ticky” and a fifteen year old minor have all been charged with attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm. Peters has been additionally charged with rape. Around nine on the night of March fifth, the teenaged girl was home alone in Placencia Village when the three young men entered the house. The victim later reported that she was sexually assaulted and stabbed three times in the neck and left to die. Her younger sister, who had gone out to buy food, made the gruesome discovery and called for help. The teenager was rushed by to the Karl Heusner Memorial by air-ambulance where she made a miraculous recovery, as she had been declared clinically dead for twenty minutes due to the massive blood loss. It is believed that robbery was the motive for attack. The three suspects are expected to be formally arraigned on Tuesday in Dangriga.

In a separate incident, Placencia police have detained one man following a report rape by a female villager. According to the thirty-one year old victim, she had just finished taking a bath when a man she was able to recognize broke into her home, threw her on the floor and had sex with her against her will. When neighbours heard her screams and rushed to help, the man ran away. The accused remains in custody pending the outcome of police investigations.
