Second suspect in Monday’s shooting arrested
The second suspect accused of shooting a man in front of the police has been arrested. According to authorities, twenty-three year old Andrew West was picked up in Belize City on Wednesday evening. This afternoon West appeared before Magistrate Albert Hoare where he was arraigned on the charges of attempted murder, dangerous harm, and use of deadly means of harm. No plea was taken and the matter has been adjourned until the fifteenth of May. West and his nineteen year old brother Justin are accused of arming themselves with handguns and then pursuing Troy Griffith. According to Griffith, around three-thirty on Monday morning, the West brothers chased him and fired several shots at him. Griffith ran past the Yabra Police booth and even though officers there attempted to end the pursuit by shooting one of the gunmen, the victim was later shot in a yard in the area. The injured shooter, Justin West, and his target were both rushed to hospital where they remain tonight under police guard. As soon as the younger West is well enough to stand, he will be charged with the same offences as his brother.
