Shootout in front of police leaves 2 hospitalised
In more crime news from the old capital, two men are tonight under guard at the K.H.M.H. following a brazen shootout in front of the police. According to authorities, around three-thirty on Monday morning, police on duty in the Yabra area heard the sound of gunfire and then saw two young men chasing another man. The man in the front was later identified as twenty year old Troy Griffith. The cops identified themselves to the shooters but the gunmen continued to pursue Griffith and even fired a number of shots in his direction in front of the police. At this point, one of the officers pulled out his licensed firearm, pointed it at the gunmen and pulled the trigger. The single shot caught one of the suspects in his right shoulder but didn’t slow them down. The two men then ran into a yard where they caught Griffith and shot him in the right shoulder, left arm, and left side of the abdomen. The shooters then tried to make a getaway but investigators soon found the injured gunman hiding the area. He has been identified as nineteen year old Justin West. West and Griffith were both transported to the K.H.M.H. Griffith has since identified the other shooter as Andrew West. Up to news time tonight, Andrew was still at large. The motive behind the shooting is unclear and Griffith has failed to tell the cops why the brothers want him dead.
