Miss Birdy puts poetry n her cards

Story PictureIn recent months, poetry has enjoyed a surge of popularity and today one local writer officially released a card of love poems. Birdy Francis has been penning verse since she was a child but “Whispers of Love for Your Eyes Only” is her first compilation. According to Francis, the bi-fold card contains six of her favourites.

Birdy Francis, Poet
“They are beautifully done and they are not erotic love poems, they are just love poems that make you feel good. It’s good for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter, birthdays, or just to say I love you.”

“There is so much domestic violence in our country today and I thought if we speak of love and the poems can speak to a man and woman love or it can speak to us a person that you love, but I think at least two or three of them are man, woman love. If we love more then we won’t fight. There’s one called “Anger Dismissed”.

[Reading poem]
When anger clouds our minds of love
Let’s stop and listen to our hearts and solve.
Whatever the problem, whatever the cause
We can share them and air them and then discard
As we travel this road of life together
And continue to share, spiritual and physical love forever
Know you are my every need fulfilled
The one that makes my heart stand still
Though time passes and our hair turns grey
and time washes our youth away
These words will forever be on my lips, I love you my dear with no regrets.

“And if you notice, all of them say, “no regrets,” I feel like if you love somebody and make that person loved and appreciated, they will never have regrets.”

The cards are available at Angelus Press branches across the country and at the Card Factory for six dollars a copy.
