Son arrested for father’s murder

Story PictureToday, seventeen year old Justin Emmanuel Orillana, a second form student of Gwen Lizarraga High School, was taken to Belize Family Court where he was formally charged for the murder of his father, thirty-eight year old Cecil Thompson. At around seven on Tuesday night Orillana was reportedly seen running away from the family home on Vernon Street, his clothing covered with blood. The police detained Orillana’s mother and younger brother who provided authorities with information. Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid says officers quickly apprehended their suspect just outside the city.

“The police got information that he was going to be travelling from Hattieville to Belize and intercepted the transport at the checkpoint and he was able to be apprehended at that point without incident.”

“But yes indeed, it’s a very disturbing thing when problems like these run into such violence endings and we are hoping that people would realise that it’s better to just rationalise and just settled their differences without resorting to violence.”

According to court reports, the father and son were arguing over a body spray which Justin accused his dad of stealing from his room. Orillana has been remanded to the boot camp in Hattieville Prison until April eighteenth.
