Today the family of fifty-six year old Janet Rivers Myvette visited the Orange Walk police station where they positively identified the jewellery found near the remains of a woman as the property of their mother who has been missing since early December. Pauline Daley says at first she could not believe what she was seeing when the video was shown on the Monday night’s newscast.

“The first thing I see dah the chain with a lee box, the first chain I recognised that and the anklet fi her foot. Because the anklet fi her foot, she got on a chain just like that around her neck in the picture she gave my baby. And the earring, my big daughter said, “Mommy see granny J earring deh.” And the heart medal, she always had that on a next chain too.”
“First I was not so sure because with the bracelet and when they said she had in the upper, dentures with gold in it and I know she got that.”
Daley insists that her mother was kidnapped and murdered and that the last three months, three weeks and three days have been hard.

“Does this bring any closure to you Pauline, seeing the jewellery, recognising it and suspecting the remains found are that of your mother’s?”
Pauline Daley
“Yes, at least it gives me a lee ease now that they found her, if dah she. I could more relax now and stop the think ‘bout ah and thing. … I can’t point fingers right now. We have to see what wah come out of it. I just want whoever kill her, we find dah who.”
Authorities say they also believe the remains are those of Janet Rivers Myvette and are calling the case a murder. On December third, Rivers was home on Berry Street doing laundry when a neighbour reportedly told the family that a young man came by her residence and told Rivers that her car, which was being driven at the time by her nephew, had broken down on the Western Highway. Rivers reportedly left with the unidentified person but never returned home and her car was never recovered. The family say they do not know if it is connected to Rivers disappearance but three weeks before she went missing she was reportedly robbed of over sixteen thousand dollars in cash and jewellery. Police are asking anyone who can help them with this case to please call the nearest station or Crime Stoppers at 0-800-922-8477.
