Belmopan cops arrest seven for various crimes
It was a good day for police all around today as officers in Belmopan are also reporting that they have arrested seven people in connection with separate crimes. In the first incident, Evergreen Primary School principal Pamela Neal reported to police that over the weekend, three computers were stolen from the institution’s computer lab. Police would later recover the electronic equipment and detain three minors. The teens, aged sixteen, fifteen, and fourteen, have since been charged with burglary and handing stolen property.
While those suspects cannot be named because of their ages, tonight we can report that twenty-four year old Denmark Cruz, twenty-four year old Yopendara Cruz, nineteen year old Justin Stewart, and twenty year old Vernon Martin have all been arrested and charged with robbery and handling stolen goods in connection with a string of jackings that have plagued the Belmopan area. According to investigators, all four have been positively identified by victims, mostly young women or elderly persons, who were robbed of personal items while using crosswalks in the capital city. In addition to the arrests, cops have also recovered cell phones, bicycles, and jewellery which are believed to be stolen property. Tonight police are asking anyone who has been the victim of such a crime in Belmopan to please visit the station to verify whether any of the recovered items belong to them.
