Police need witness for upcoming case

The Police Department is asking the public’s help tonight, not to catch a criminal, but to locate a crime victim whose court testimony may be crucial in the case against his alleged assailant. In 2004, David Melendez was shot and lost the use of an eye in an attack at his home in Trinidad Village in the Orange Walk district. One of two suspects, Hilberto Perez, was charged with attempted murder and remanded to Hattieville prison. After many delays the preliminary inquiry will take place on Friday in Orange Walk Magistrates Court … but police cannot locate Melendez, who some time ago left the area to live in Ladyville.
