Children’s home raffles house as fundraiser
The Liberty Children’s Home has embarked on its most ambitious fund raising drive ever. On May nineteenth, a lucky family will receive the keys to a brand new three bedroom concrete house in Vista Del Mar. Proceeds of the raffle will be used to help provide for the needs of the home’s young residents who are sent to the facility through the court system. According to the Liberty Foundation’s Communication Manager Averill Lovely, the money will be well spent.

“The money from the house raffle is going to be used for the children’s home. We have twenty-six Belizean children in residential care here for a number of different reasons. Someare abandoned, some are taken out of the homes because they are abused or neglected and we actually have kids who are here because they are HIV Positive and so there are a variety of reasons. And that is what the money is going to benefit, the children’s home.”

“How was all of this made possible? I mean we are talking about a house here being raffle.”

“Well, INDECO has been kind enough to donate the house and the lot and it is actually a company that works for INDECO is the ones who’s building it but they are the ones who have made it possible.”
“So far sales have been sort of slow so we are really hoping that this will pick up a little bit of publicity. We have radio ad now on Love F.M and hopefully in combination with this, this will really boost the sales once people know about it.”
Raffle tickets at five dollars each can be purchased at FedEx, Habet and Habet, Regent Realty, and Manatee Lookout.
