“Witness” to murder is charged with crime
Two days ago, the murder case against a Belize City man came to an abrupt end when the main witness changed his testimony on the stand. But tonight that witness is himself charged with the crime. According to court reports, this morning the capital offence of murder was levied against thirty year old Bruce Willacey in connection with the death of police constable Euwin Armstrong. Willacey appeared before Magistrate Sharon Fraser today, who has remanded him to Hattieville Prison until April tenth. The victim was executed in November 2004 near the flag monument in Belize City while on his way to work by a lone gunman. Willacey’s initial statement to investigators pointed the finger of blame at another man. But when he took the stand during the trial earlier this week, Willacey told the court he was forced by police to give that version of events.
